What a CA firm in Chandigarh deals with because the city is a UT

Chandigarh has its own GST code, no professional tax and a ROC that also serves Punjab and Himachal. Those details decide how your invoices, payslips and company filings are prepared.

In short: Chandigarh is a Union Territory, so local sales carry CGST plus UTGST under GST code 04, salaries carry no professional tax, and companies file with ROC Chandigarh. TaxCaller works as your CA firm in Chandigarh fully online, from documents on WhatsApp to filing on the portals, with the fee agreed first.

People who search for a CA firm here usually have one of three things going on. A salaried officer wants the return filed correctly before a refund gets stuck. A trader in the Industrial Area is confused because his Mohali buyer cannot claim credit. A young founder at the IT Park needs a company formed and a foreign client billed without GST. These questions come up all the time, and the answers depend heavily on the fact that the city is not a state.

Here is what that means in plain terms. The city has its own GST state code, 04, so every GSTIN registered here starts with those two digits. Because the UT has no legislature of its own for this purpose, the local half of GST is Union Territory tax (UTGST) and not State GST. Sell to a customer in Sector 22 and you charge CGST plus UTGST. Sell to a shop in Mohali, just across the road, and the same invoice becomes inter-state, carrying IGST, because Punjab is code 03. Panchkula is in Haryana, code 06.

A few other local facts shape the work:

  • No professional tax. The UT does not levy it, so payslips of people working here show no such deduction. Staff posted in Mohali are a different story, since Punjab collects ₹200 a month as State Development Tax.
  • ROC Chandigarh at Corporate Bhawan, Sector 27B, Madhya Marg, handles companies and LLPs of the UT, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
  • Income tax for the region is headed by the Principal Chief Commissioner (North West Region) at Aayakar Bhawan, Sector 17E, though almost all assessments now run through the faceless system.

The city's client mix is unusual too. There are a lot of salaried people and pensioners: UT and central government staff, bank officers, university teachers and retired armed forces officers. There is a dense professional crowd around the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the hospitals. Then come the light engineering units of Industrial Area Phase I and Phase II, and the software teams of the Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park.

TaxCaller India LLP has been doing tax and compliance work since 2018, with a network of qualified Chartered Accountants and tax experts. We are based in Ghaziabad and serve the tricity online. You send papers on WhatsApp or email, we talk it through on a call, and the filing happens on the government portal. The sections below go through the work by type of client, the mistakes we keep correcting here, and a list of what to have ready. For our wider service, see the chartered accountant services page.

Why a CA firm in Chandigarh bills under UTGST and not SGST

Direct answer: The city is a Union Territory without its own legislature, so intra-UT supplies attract CGST plus UTGST. Anything that crosses into Mohali, Zirakpur or Panchkula is inter-state and attracts IGST.

Example: a new business copies its invoice format from a friend in Ludhiana or Ambala and ends up printing "SGST" on the bill. The amount is the same, but the tax head is wrong, and the buyer's credit, your GSTR-1 and your cash ledger all get tangled. The fix is simple once you see the pattern.

Any sector of Chandigarh, Manimajra or the Industrial Area04CGST plus UTGST
Mohali, Kharar, Zirakpur, Dera Bassi (Punjab)03IGST
Panchkula, Pinjore (Haryana)06IGST
Baddi, Parwanoo, Shimla (Himachal Pradesh)02IGST
Unregistered retail customer who takes delivery in the UTnoneCGST plus UTGST

Registration triggers that bite here

The turnover limits are the normal ones: ₹40 lakh for suppliers of goods and ₹20 lakh for service providers, counted on all-India aggregate turnover. The rule that catches tricity traders is different. Anyone making inter-state taxable supplies of goods needs GST registration whatever the turnover. A small wholesaler in Sector 26 grain market who sends even a few consignments to Zirakpur has crossed that line.

Service providers get some relief: inter-state supply of services by a person below ₹20 lakh does not by itself force registration. A freelance designer in Sector 15 with Mohali clients can stay unregistered until the threshold.

Wrong tax head, now what?

If you charged CGST and UTGST on what was really an IGST supply, the law makes you pay IGST correctly and then claim a refund of the tax paid under the wrong head. It is fixable but slow. We prefer to set the place of supply rule inside your billing software on day one, so the state of the buyer decides the tax head automatically.

When you apply, the UT address on your rent agreement and electricity bill decides the jurisdiction. Our GST registration service checks the address, the nature of supplies and the number of GSTINs you need before filing the REG-01.

Office in Chandigarh, godown in Panchkula, staff in Mohali: the tricity rule sheet

Each part of the tricity follows a different rule book for GST, professional tax and company registration, while income tax is identical for all three. One owner with premises in two places usually needs two GSTINs.

We see this set-up constantly. The showroom sits in Sector 34, the stock is kept in a cheaper godown in Panchkula Industrial Area, and the accounts team lives in Mohali. On a map it is one business. On paper it is three jurisdictions.

What follows from the table

  • Separate registration per state or UT. A godown in Panchkula is a place of business in Haryana. Your UT GSTIN does not cover it, and stock moving between the two is a taxable supply between distinct persons, billed with IGST.
  • Payroll differs by posting. Employees working out of Mohali fall under the Punjab levy; the same company's UT staff do not. Payroll software that applies one rule to everyone gets this wrong.
  • Company address decides the ROC. A registered office in Mohali still files with ROC Chandigarh. Shifting between Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula is a change of state or UT either way, which needs a Regional Director's approval and fresh paperwork; only Panchkula also changes the ROC.

Income tax ignores these borders completely. Slabs, forms and due dates do not change between a home in Sector 44 and one in New Chandigarh.

Tip from our files: when you rent a second premises, send us the address before you sign. Five minutes on the phone can tell you whether it means a new GSTIN, an amendment to the existing one, or nothing at all.

For businesses that sell across all three areas every day, our GST consultant team can map each supply flow once and write it down for your billing staff.

Which return should a government employee or pensioner file this year?

Most salaried people and pensioners in the city file ITR-1 or ITR-2, usually due by 31 July. The form changes the moment capital gains, a second house or a side practice enters the picture.

A defective return notice under section 139(9) is the classic outcome of picking the wrong form. A retired bank officer in Sector 21 with mutual fund redemptions who files ITR-1 will get one, because capital gains need ITR-2.

What your income looks likeFormUsual due date (FY 2025-26)
Salary or pension, one house, savings and FD interest, total up to ₹50 lakhITR-131 July
Salary plus share or mutual fund gains, more than one house, or foreign assetsITR-231 July
Salary plus consultancy or a small business on presumptive incomeITR-431 August
Salary plus a business or profession with regular booksITR-331 August, or 21 November 2026 if audited (usually 31 October)

Budget 2026 moved non-audit ITR-3 and ITR-4 cases to 31 August while ITR-1 and ITR-2 stayed at 31 July. If you missed these dates for FY 2025-26, a belated return can still be filed by 31 December 2026, with a late fee of ₹5,000, or ₹1,000 where total income does not exceed ₹5 lakh.

Regime choice for officers and teachers

Under the new regime for FY 2025-26, a resident with taxable income up to ₹12 lakh pays no tax after the section 87A rebate, and salaried people get a ₹75,000 standard deduction. Employer contribution to NPS under section 80CCD(2) is allowed in the new regime too, which matters for government staff. The old regime still wins for some people with large HRA, home loan interest and 80C claims. We run both and show you the numbers.

Points pensioners miss

  • Commuted pension: a government pensioner's commuted amount is exempt; for others the exemption is partial and depends on whether gratuity was received.
  • Form 15H submitted at one bank but not at another, so TDS shows up unevenly in the AIS.
  • Interest on senior citizen savings scheme deposits shown in AIS but left out of the return.

Our income tax filing service reads your AIS and Form 26AS line by line before drafting anything.

Advocates, doctors and consultants near the High Court: presumptive tax, GST and reverse charge

Most professionals here can use section 44ADA and declare 50% of receipts as income, within the receipt limits. Advocates also need to know that GST on legal services to businesses is paid by the client under reverse charge.

The city has an unusually large professional community for its size. The Punjab and Haryana High Court sits here, so do the district courts in Sector 43, and the hospitals bring in a steady stream of private doctors, physiotherapists and diagnostic specialists.

Section 44ADA in practice

For FY 2025-26, an eligible resident professional can offer 50% of gross receipts as income without keeping detailed books, as long as receipts stay within ₹50 lakh, or ₹75 lakh where cash receipts are no more than 5% of the total. The whole advance tax can be paid in one instalment by 15 March. Most of our advocate clients in the early years of practice fit this neatly.

Your situationUsually suitsWhy
Junior advocate, low expenses, receipts by bank transfer44ADALight records, single advance tax date
Clinic with staff, rent and equipment loanRegular booksReal expenses exceed half of receipts
Architect with receipts above ₹75 lakhRegular books and tax auditOutside the presumptive limit
Retired officer doing occasional consultancy44ADA in ITR-4Small receipts on top of pension

GST for lawyers and other professionals

Legal services supplied by an individual advocate or a firm of advocates to a business entity are taxed under reverse charge: the business client pays the GST, not the lawyer. Services to individuals in a personal matter are exempt, and services to a business with turnover up to the threshold limit in the preceding year are exempt as well. In practice, most advocates do not need GST registration for their fees. Clients still ask for a proper fee bill with the reverse charge note, and we draft that format for you.

Doctors are mostly outside GST for healthcare services, but a clinic that sells cosmetic procedures, runs a pharmacy counter or rents out space has taxable supplies to look at separately.

A common call

A consultant receives fees from a company that deducts TDS under section 194J, and the deduction shows up in AIS. He files ITR-1 with only his pension, the receipts go missing, and a mismatch notice follows within months. Using ITR-4 with 44ADA would have taken ten minutes more.

If your practice is growing and you want planning, not just filing, our tax consultant team can review it once a year.

IT Park founders and employees: foreign clients, LUT, ESOPs and RSUs

Software and design firms in the Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park that bill clients abroad usually supply zero-rated exports of services. File a Letter of Undertaking each year and the invoices go out without IGST.

The IT Park off Manimajra has grown into a mixed hub of large campuses, mid-size service companies and two-person studios. Their compliance questions split neatly into two groups: the company's GST and the employee's income tax.

For the company

A supply qualifies as export of services when the supplier is in India, the recipient is outside India, the place of supply is outside India, payment comes in convertible foreign exchange (or in rupees where the RBI allows), and the two parties are not merely establishments of one person. Miss one condition and the invoice becomes a domestic supply with GST.

  • LUT in Form GST RFD-11 for each financial year lets you export without paying IGST.
  • Refund of unused credit on inputs and input services can be claimed through RFD-01, which suits companies paying GST on rent, laptops and cloud subscriptions.
  • Bank proof of each foreign inward remittance should be filed with the invoice it settles. Officers ask for it first.

For the employee

RSUs and ESOPs cause most of the trouble. When shares are allotted or vest, the gain is taxed as a salary perquisite and should appear in your salary certificate. When you later sell, the difference is a capital gain. If the shares belong to a foreign parent, you must also report them in Schedule FA of ITR-2, along with any foreign bank or brokerage account. Leaving Schedule FA blank is one of the more common errors we see from tech employees, and it can attract action under the Black Money Act even when all tax was paid.

Founders forming a new entity for this work can see our company registration service, which files the SPICe+ forms with the ROC online.

Industrial Area Phase I and II units: tractor parts, fasteners and the 2025 rate changes

The city's two industrial phases are dominated by light engineering, including suppliers to the tractor industry, fastener makers and electrical goods units. The September 2025 rate changes moved several of their products into new slabs.

The UT's industrial base is small but old. Most plots in Phase I and Phase II have been occupied for decades, many by second-generation owners who supply tractor and automobile makers in Punjab and Haryana. For these units, GST rates and job work records are the two areas where money leaks.

Product groupRate before 22 Sep 2025Rate from 22 Sep 2025
Tractors and specified tractor parts12% or 18%5%
Parts of motor vehicles28%18%
Bicycles and their parts12%5%

Check the HSN line by line on your product list. A supplier who sells the same component to a tractor maker and to a car maker may now bill the two at different rates, depending on how the part is classified.

Credit build-up after a rate cut

When the output rate falls to 5% and raw material such as steel, paint and packing is still bought at 18%, unused credit collects in the ledger. A refund of accumulated credit on inputs (not on input services or capital goods) can be claimed under the inverted duty route in RFD-01. Clean purchase data and a matched GSTR-2B are what make these claims move.

Job work across the UT border

Plating, heat treatment and machining are often sent to job workers in Mohali or Dera Bassi. Inputs can go out on a delivery challan without tax if they come back within one year (three years for capital goods such as moulds and dies). Report the movement in ITC-04: half-yearly if your turnover is above ₹5 crore, yearly otherwise. Because the job worker is in Punjab, the challan crosses a state line, and an e-way bill is needed whatever the consignment value, even though no sale is happening.

E-invoicing applies once aggregate turnover in any year since 2017-18 crosses ₹5 crore. Units supplying large tractor makers usually crossed that line long ago, and buyers will not book a bill without a valid IRN. Our GST return filing service matches e-invoices with GSTR-1 every month before filing.

Renting a booth or SCO in the sectors: GST on rent and TDS you may owe

If your GST-registered business rents commercial space from an unregistered landlord, you pay GST on that rent yourself under reverse charge since 10 October 2024. TDS on rent is a separate obligation that depends on who you are and how much you pay.

Commercial property here is mostly booths, SCOs (shop-cum-office) and showrooms in sector markets, and a lot of it is owned by individuals who are not registered under GST. That set-up created a gap the government closed in October 2024.

Reverse charge on commercial rent

From 10 October 2024, rent for any property other than a residential dwelling, supplied by an unregistered person to a registered person, is taxed under reverse charge. The tenant pays 18% GST in cash and can usually take credit of the same amount in the same return. The net cash effect is often nil, yet we still see tenants who never reported it, and that shows up during audits as tax unpaid with interest.

Separately, if a GST-registered person rents a residential dwelling for business use, the tenant pays GST under reverse charge too. This catches startups that run their office from a house in Sector 35.

Who pays the rentLandlordGST positionTDS position (FY 2025-26)

Salaried individual or small trader not under auditAny landlordNo GST for a residential homeSection 194-IB at 2% where rent exceeds ₹50,000 a month

Landlords' side

Example: a retired person owns a booth in Sector 17 and lives on the rent, which puts him on the other side of this deal. Rent income goes under house property with a 30% standard deduction. If the rent crosses the GST registration limit for services, the landlord must register, and once registered, he bills GST himself. Our TDS return filing service handles tenant-side challans and the quarterly statements.

Mistakes we correct most often for Chandigarh clients

Nearly every problem file we see traces back to one of a handful of habits. None of them is exotic, and most can be fixed in a single return if caught within the year.

We keep a running list. These come up again and again, roughly in this order.

  1. SGST printed instead of UTGST. Usually from software set up for a Punjab client. The total tax is right, the head is wrong, and GSTR-1 reporting goes off.
  2. Mohali buyers billed as local. CGST plus UTGST on a supply to Phase 8B or Zirakpur. The buyer cannot take that credit in Punjab and pushes back months later.
  3. One GSTIN covering a Panchkula godown. The stock there is legally unregistered business premises. An inspection turns that into a penalty question.
  4. Pensioners filing ITR-1 with capital gains. Mutual fund redemptions show in AIS, the form cannot hold them, and a defective notice follows.
  5. Schedule FA left blank by IT Park employees holding RSUs of a foreign parent company.
  6. Reverse charge on rent ignored. Common with tenants of booths owned by unregistered landlords since October 2024.
  7. DIR-3 KYC and annual ROC forms missed by small private companies whose founders assumed the bank or the incorporation agent would handle them.
  8. Professional fees received but left off the return. TDS under section 194J appears in AIS and the department's system flags the gap almost automatically.

If a notice has already arrived, do not reply from the portal the same evening. Send us the notice, your filed return and the AIS on WhatsApp. A reply that attaches a reconciliation and cites the exact entry usually closes the matter in one round.

Most of these are cheap to correct within the year. A revised income tax return for FY 2025-26 can be filed up to 31 March 2027, with a fee if it goes in after 31 December 2026. GST errors in a month can generally be corrected in a later GSTR-1 or GSTR-3B, subject to the time limit that runs to 30 November after the end of the financial year. Waiting past those dates turns a correction into a dispute. If your bookkeeping is the root cause, our accounting and bookkeeping service keeps the books monthly so these gaps never pile up.

Annual forms for a private company or LLP registered with ROC Chandigarh

A private limited company here files at least AOC-4 and MGT-7 every year, and an LLP files Form 11 and Form 8. Late filing attracts an additional fee for every day of delay, with no upper cap for some forms.

Incorporation is the easy part. We regularly take over companies from the IT Park and Industrial Area that were formed in a hurry and then forgotten for two or three years, with the director's DIN deactivated and fees mounting.

FormWhat it isUsual time limit
INC-20ADeclaration of commencement of businessWithin 180 days of incorporation
ADT-1Appointment of auditorFirst auditor within 30 days of incorporation; filing within 15 days of the AGM appointment
AOC-4Financial statementsWithin 30 days of the AGM
MGT-7 or MGT-7AAnnual returnWithin 60 days of the AGM
DIR-3 KYCKYC of each director holding a DINOnce every three financial years from 31 March 2026, by 30 June
LLP Form 11Annual return of an LLPBy 30 May
LLP Form 8Statement of account and solvencyBy 30 October

The AGM date drives everything

A company must hold its AGM within six months of the year end, which means by 30 September for most. AOC-4 and MGT-7 deadlines run from that date. If no AGM is held, the time limits are counted from the last date on which it should have been held, so skipping the meeting does not stop the clock.

What changes for a UT company

Very little in law. The ROC processes filings online like every other office, and you will not need to visit Corporate Bhawan for routine work. Where it matters is the registered office: proof must be an address in the UT, and moving it to Mohali keeps the same ROC but is still a shift from the UT to Punjab that needs the Regional Director's approval, while moving it to Panchkula also changes the ROC.

For founders who have not formed the company yet, our team prepares SPICe+ with AGILE-PRO-S, which also covers PAN, TAN, GST (if opted), EPFO and ESIC numbers in one application. LLPs go through FiLLiP, with the LLP agreement filed in Form 3 within 30 days.

Before you call a CA firm in Chandigarh: what to keep on your phone

With the right five or six documents in hand, we can usually tell you the plan and the fee on the very first call. Here is what helps most, by type of work.

None of this needs to be perfect. Photos are fine to start with; we ask for clean PDFs only when something is going to be filed.

Work you want doneHave these ready
Salary or pension returnPAN, Aadhaar linked mobile, salary certificate or pension slip, AIS download, FD interest certificates, capital gain statement from your fund house or broker
Professional practice returnBank statements of the practice account, list of receipts with TDS deducted, last year's return, advance tax challans
GST for a shop or unitGST login, sales and purchase data or Tally backup, last three GSTR-3B, e-way bill report, details of any branch or godown outside the UT
Service export from the IT ParkLUT acknowledgement, export invoices, foreign inward remittance advices, client agreements
Company or LLP complianceIncorporation certificate, director DINs, last filed AOC-4 and MGT-7 or Form 11 and Form 8, audited accounts

Three questions we will ask

  1. Where exactly are your premises: Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula or more than one?
  2. Has any notice or intimation arrived in the last year, on the e-filing portal or the GST portal?
  3. What deadline is nearest for you right now?

Answering those three in a WhatsApp message before the call saves almost half the conversation.

Everything after that runs online. Documents come by WhatsApp, email or an upload link; drafts go to you for approval; the acknowledgement from the portal reaches you the same day it is filed. You never have to take time off for an office visit. If you want to estimate tax first, the free calculators on our tax tools page are a good starting point.

Signs it is time to bring in a CA

These are the moments when clients usually wish they had called us a few weeks earlier.

You open a second premises

A godown in Panchkula or an office in Mohali may need its own GSTIN and changes your billing rules. Settle it before the first stock moves, not after an officer asks.

Shares or funds were sold

Capital gains move a pensioner or officer from ITR-1 to ITR-2. Filing the old form again is the quickest route to a defective return notice.

A foreign client signs up

Exporting services without a valid LUT means paying IGST upfront and waiting for a refund. File the LUT before the first invoice of the year goes out.

Turnover nears ₹5 crore

E-invoicing applies from the moment aggregate turnover crosses ₹5 crore in any year. Billing software and invoice series need changing before buyers start rejecting bills.

An intimation arrives

A section 143(1) intimation or a GST mismatch notice has a reply window. Missing it turns a small adjustment into a demand with interest.

What changes once we take over

Practical results clients see within the first year, described plainly.

Right tax head on every invoice

UTGST for local sales and IGST for the rest of the tricity, set inside your billing software once, so buyers in Mohali and Panchkula stop disputing credit.

Refunds that arrive

Returns that match AIS are processed faster. Salaried and pensioner clients stop waiting months for refunds that were stuck over a small mismatch.

No surprise ROC fees

A calendar built from your AGM date means AOC-4, MGT-7 and KYC go in on time, and additional fees stop accumulating day by day.

Calm replies to notices

Each reply goes with a reconciliation and the exact references, which usually closes the matter in one round instead of a long exchange.

Time saved

Documents move on WhatsApp and approvals happen on your phone. Nobody has to leave the office or the clinic to sit in a waiting room.

Documents we usually ask you for

Clear phone photos are fine to begin with. We ask for PDFs only for documents that will be uploaded to a government portal, and we never ask for originals.

How we take on a new client

Most new engagements follow the same five steps, whether it is one return or a full year of compliance.

  1. 1

    Free first call

You tell us what is pending and where your premises are. We ask a few questions and tell you what needs attention now and what can wait.

  2. 2

    Scope and fee

We share the scope of work and the fee in writing. Nothing begins until you confirm it, so nobody argues later about what was included.

  3. 3

    Documents online

You send papers on WhatsApp, by email or through an upload link. Within a day or two we reply with one consolidated list of any gaps.

  4. 4

    Draft for approval

A tax expert prepares the return, form or reply and a qualified Chartered Accountant reviews it where needed. You get a summary to check and approve.

  5. 5

    Filing and proof

We file on the income tax, GST or MCA portal and send you the acknowledgement on WhatsApp, then add the next due date to your reminders.

Why Chandigarh clients work with TaxCaller

Simple facts about who we are and how the work is handled.

Working since 2018

TaxCaller India LLP, LLPIN AAQ-7388, has handled tax and compliance work since 2018 from A1, Police Colony, Patel Nagar 3, Ghaziabad, serving tricity clients online.

Qualified people check the work

Returns and forms are prepared and reviewed with a network of qualified Chartered Accountants and tax experts, so a second person checks the work before it reaches you.

Fee agreed first

The first call is free, and the fee is told upfront before any work starts. If the scope changes later, we talk about it before doing extra work.

Fully online

Documents online, discussion on call and WhatsApp, filing on the government portals. The process is identical for a client in Sector 8 and one in Manimajra.

Clear working hours

Reach us Monday to Saturday, 9 AM to 6 PM, on +91 87500 70081 or at wecare@taxcaller.com. Messages after hours are answered the next working morning.

Questions people in Chandigarh ask a CA

Short, direct answers to what we are asked most by local salaried people, professionals and business owners.

How much does it cost to hire a CA firm in Chandigarh for an ITR?

It depends on the form and the work involved, and TaxCaller tells you the exact fee on the first call before starting. A pension-only ITR-1 takes far less effort than ITR-3 with business books or ITR-2 with share trading. Government late fees, if any, are separate and paid directly on the income tax portal.

Do I pay SGST or UTGST on sales inside Chandigarh?

You charge UTGST, not SGST. It is a Union Territory without its own legislature, so a supply inside the city carries CGST plus UTGST at equal halves of the total rate. Your GSTIN starts with 04. The total tax works out the same, but the tax head must be correct on every invoice and in GSTR-1.

Is there professional tax on salaries in Chandigarh?

No, the UT does not levy professional tax, so salaried people working in the city see no such deduction. This often confuses tricity employers, because Punjab charges ₹200 a month as State Development Tax on covered employees in Mohali. A company with staff in both places must apply the Punjab levy only to Mohali postings.

Do I need a separate GST registration for my godown in Panchkula?

Yes, in most cases you do. Panchkula is in Haryana, so a godown there is a place of business in another state, and your UT GSTIN does not cover it. You need a Haryana registration starting with 06, and stock transfers between the two registrations are billed with IGST as supplies between distinct persons.

Which ROC handles a company registered in Chandigarh?

ROC Chandigarh handles it. The office sits at Corporate Bhawan, Plot 4B, Sector 27B, Madhya Marg, and covers companies and LLPs from the UT, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. All forms such as SPICe+, AOC-4 and MGT-7 are filed online on the MCA portal, so you do not need to visit the office for routine work.

Can a retired officer in Chandigarh file ITR-1 after selling mutual funds?

No, once you have capital gains from mutual funds or shares, ITR-1 is not the right form. Pensioners with redemptions generally need ITR-2, which has schedules for short and long term gains. Filing ITR-1 anyway usually leads to a defective return notice under section 139(9), and the return has to be filed again.

Does an advocate at the Punjab and Haryana High Court need GST registration?

Usually not for legal fees. Legal services by an individual advocate or a firm of advocates to a business entity are taxed under reverse charge, so the client pays GST. Services to individuals in personal matters are exempt. An advocate should still issue a proper fee bill noting reverse charge, and keep receipts properly for income tax.

Can a CA in Chandigarh help an IT Park startup bill US clients without GST?

Yes, if the supply meets the export of services conditions. The recipient must be abroad, the place of supply outside India and payment received in convertible foreign exchange or as RBI allows. File a Letter of Undertaking in Form RFD-11 every financial year, and invoices can then go out without IGST as zero-rated supplies.

Do I have to pay GST on the rent of my Sector 17 booth?

If you are a GST-registered tenant and the booth owner is unregistered, yes, under reverse charge since 10 October 2024. You pay 18% GST on the rent yourself and can normally claim the same amount as input tax credit. If the landlord is registered, he charges GST on his invoice instead, and you claim that credit.

What is the quarterly GSTR-3B due date for a small trader in the UT?

It is the 24th of the month after the quarter for QRMP taxpayers here. The UT is grouped with Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and other northern states for this date. Monthly tax for the first two months of a quarter is paid through PMT-06 by the 25th of the following month, unless you use the fixed sum method.

Can a doctor in Chandigarh use section 44ADA instead of keeping full books?

Yes, if gross receipts for FY 2025-26 are within ₹50 lakh, or ₹75 lakh where cash receipts are no more than 5% of the total. You declare at least 50% of receipts as income and pay advance tax by 15 March. If your clinic expenses run above half of receipts, regular books may lower the tax.

How long does company registration through ROC Chandigarh take?

Once documents and digital signatures are ready, incorporation through SPICe+ is usually approved within about one to two weeks, though the ROC can raise queries that add time. The certificate comes with PAN and TAN. After that, INC-20A must be filed within 180 days and the first auditor appointed within 30 days of incorporation.

Will I need to visit an office if I choose TaxCaller as my Chandigarh CA?

No visit is needed. You send documents on WhatsApp, email or through an upload link, we discuss the work on call, and every return or form is filed online on the government portal. You approve a draft before filing and receive the acknowledgement on your phone. Our office is in Ghaziabad, and the tricity is served online.

What happens if I miss the 31 July ITR date this year?

You can still file a belated return for FY 2025-26 by 31 December 2026. The late fee is ₹5,000, or ₹1,000 if total income is up to ₹5 lakh, and interest under section 234A applies on unpaid tax. Some losses cannot be carried forward on a belated return, so do not wait any longer than necessary.

In short

A CA firm in Chandigarh files income tax returns for salaried people, pensioners and professionals, handles GST under code 04 with CGST plus UTGST, manages TDS and ROC Chandigarh filings, and replies to notices. The UT levies no professional tax. TaxCaller India LLP does this work online: documents on WhatsApp or email, discussion on call, filing on the portals, with the fee agreed first.
