Chartered Accountants for Hyderabad, from HITEC City to Genome Valley
TaxCaller India LLP connects Hyderabad businesses and individuals with qualified Chartered Accountants and tax experts for GST, income tax, TDS, refunds and ROC compliance, delivered online.
In short: We act as an online CA firm in Hyderabad for IT staff, pharma and chemical units, builders, traders and new companies. Papers reach us on WhatsApp or email, questions get settled on a phone call, and filings go straight to the portals. Nobody needs to travel to an office.
Looking for a CA firm in Hyderabad usually starts with a deadline or a worry. A Telangana GST registration that should have been taken months ago. A flat sold in Kondapur and no idea how the capital gain works. A drug intermediate unit in Jeedimetla with a refund that has not moved. A Gachibowli engineer with US shares who has never filled Schedule FA. We pick up that one issue first and then build a routine around your business.
Hyderabad's economy has three strong legs. The first is technology. HITEC City was inaugurated in November 1998, and the cluster now spreads across Madhapur, Kondapur, Gachibowli and the Financial District at Nanakramguda. Telangana's IT exports, almost all of them generated in this one city, were reported at about Rs 2.68 lakh crore for 2023-24. The second is life sciences. Genome Valley houses more than 200 companies, and Telangana accounts for roughly a third of India's pharmaceutical production, with bulk drug plants at places such as Jeedimetla, Patancheru and Pashamylaram. The third is real estate, which follows the jobs and keeps expanding on the western side of the city.
Each of these groups brings different tax questions. That is why we start every engagement by understanding what you actually do, not by sending a standard checklist.
The way the work runs
TaxCaller India LLP has been in this work since 2018 and works with a network of qualified Chartered Accountants and tax experts. For clients in the city, it looks like this:
- You send documents online, at a time that suits you.
- We call to discuss, explain the position and agree what will be filed.
- Every return, form and reply is filed online, and you get the acknowledgement.
- You hear the fee before work starts, and the first call is free.
Need only a GSTIN to begin with? Our GST registration service handles that alone. Larger needs, such as an ongoing tax view across salary, property and investments, sit better with a tax consultant engagement.
Why many Telangana businesses need GST registration sooner than they think
Telangana kept the Rs 20 lakh registration threshold for goods, so a trader here has to register at half the turnover a trader in many other states can reach.
When the GST Council allowed states to raise the goods threshold to Rs 40 lakh, most states took it. Telangana did not. As a result, a shop in Begum Bazaar or a hardware dealer in Kukatpally crosses the registration limit at Rs 20 lakh of aggregate turnover, whether the turnover comes from goods or services.
| Kind of supply | Threshold in Telangana | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Goods only | Rs 20 lakh aggregate turnover | Many other states use Rs 40 lakh |
| Services only | Rs 20 lakh aggregate turnover | Same as most states |
| Inter-state sale of goods | Registration from the first sale | No threshold applies |
| Selling through e-commerce operators | Generally compulsory | Limited relief exists for some small sellers |
| Casual or non-resident taxable person | Compulsory before supply | Short validity, advance deposit of tax |
The GSTIN for any Hyderabad business starts with 36, the state code of Telangana. Registration applications go through the GST portal and are allotted either to the state Commercial Taxes Department or to the central GST administration.
What aggregate turnover includes
Aggregate turnover is calculated on PAN basis across India. It includes taxable sales, exempt sales, exports and inter-state supplies, but not the GST itself. A person running a small restaurant in Ameerpet and a separate trading business in Secunderabad must add both. People who look only at one business often discover they crossed the limit a year earlier.
If you have crossed the limit without registering, do not panic, but do not wait either. Tax becomes payable from the date registration was required, and the longer the gap, the larger the interest and penalty. We work out the date carefully from your bank and sales records, take the registration, and plan how to pay the past liability so that your buyers can still be served.
After registration, monthly or quarterly filing starts at once. Our GST return filing service covers that routine.
Pharma and bulk drug units: what a CA firm in Hyderabad checks in your books
For pharma and chemical units, the usual tax risks are refund claims, export documentation, job work under loan licence and slow-moving inventory, not the basic returns.
A bulk drug or intermediate unit in the Jeedimetla or Patancheru belt typically buys solvents and chemicals, processes them through several stages, exports part of the output and sells the rest to formulators. Every one of those steps leaves a GST and income tax trail that has to agree.
Areas we look at first
- Exports and SEZ supplies: LUT renewed each year, export invoices matched to shipping bills, and supplies to SEZ units documented as zero-rated.
- Inverted duty refunds: where tax on inputs is higher than tax on outputs, unused credit on inputs can be claimed back in RFD-01. Input services and capital goods are not part of this refund, which many claims get wrong.
- Loan licence and contract manufacturing: a brand owner sends material to a manufacturer, and the job work rules and ITC-04 apply. Who owns the stock at year end must be clear in both sets of books.
- Stock valuation: expired batches, rejected lots and samples need write-offs backed by records, and any credit on destroyed goods has to be reversed.
| Issue | Typical sign | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Refund rejected | Deficiency memo in RFD-03 | Rebuild the statement and refile with the missing annexures |
| Credit on samples | Free samples given to doctors | Reverse the credit on goods given away free |
| Stock difference | Book stock far above physical stock | Document write-offs and correct credit before an audit |
| Related party pricing | Supplies to a group formulation company | Check valuation rules for related persons |
Example: a small API unit supplies a group company at a discount. Under GST, supplies between related persons are valued as per the valuation rules, and if the buyer cannot take full credit, the lower price may be questioned. We review such arrangements once a year so that the price is defensible.
Units of this size usually cross the tax audit limit as well. Our accounting and bookkeeping team keeps the stock and batch records in a form an auditor can test quickly.
HITEC City and Gachibowli employees: which ITR form, and why it matters
Your ITR form depends on what income and assets you have. If you hold foreign shares, sold property or earned freelance income, ITR-1 is the wrong form.
Most people working in Madhapur and the Financial District file returns themselves on salary alone. That works well until the first RSU grant vests, a family flat is sold, or a weekend consulting project pays out. Then the form changes, and the wrong form is treated as a defective return.
| What you earned or hold | Form | What people forget |
|---|---|---|
| Salary up to Rs 50 lakh, one house, interest | ITR-1 | Savings and FD interest shown in AIS |
| Salary plus capital gains on shares or property | ITR-2 | Purchase cost and improvement bills for the property |
| Salary plus foreign RSUs or a US bank account | ITR-2 | Schedule FA on calendar year basis, Form 67 for foreign tax |
| Salary plus freelance income or a firm's profit | ITR-3 | Expenses and depreciation on the laptop or office |
| Small business on presumptive income | ITR-4 | Turnover and cash receipt limits for eligibility |
Foreign shares from your employer
When RSUs vest, the market value is taxed as salary through Form 16. If the shares are later sold, the gain over that value is a capital gain. The sale proceeds sitting in a foreign brokerage account, and the shares still held, must be reported in Schedule FA. Leaving them out can attract a heavy penalty under the black money law, even when the tax itself was paid.
Moving back from abroad
Example: you move back to India from the US or the Gulf in the middle of a year. Your residential status for the year (resident, non-resident, or resident but not ordinarily resident) decides if your foreign salary and accounts are taxable here at all. We work out the status from your passport stamps before anything else.
For a straightforward salaried return, the income tax filing service is enough. When there are foreign assets or capital gains, a CA should prepare it.
Buying, selling or building in Hyderabad: tax points on property
Property deals here involve TDS by the buyer, GST on under-construction flats, capital gains for the seller and, for landlords, TDS on high rents.
Real estate is the biggest transaction most families make, and the tax mistakes are usually made in a hurry at registration time. Here is a quick reference to the central rules that apply to every deal in the city.
| Transaction | Tax rule | Who acts |
|---|---|---|
| Buying property worth Rs 50 lakh or more from a resident | TDS at 1 percent (section 194-IA, now section 393 of the Income-tax Act, 2025), paid through Form 141, which replaced Form 26QB from April 2026 | Buyer |
| Buying from an NRI seller | TDS under the non-resident rules (earlier section 195), reported in Form 144, earlier Form 27Q; buyer needs a TAN | Buyer |
| Under-construction residential flat | GST at 5 percent without credit, or 1 percent for affordable housing | Builder charges, buyer pays |
| Ready flat with completion certificate | No GST on the sale | Not applicable |
| Rent above Rs 50,000 a month paid by an individual | TDS at 2 percent (earlier section 194-IB), paid through Form 141 | Tenant |
Selling a flat or plot
For property held more than two years, long-term capital gain is taxed at 12.5 percent without indexation for transfers after 23 July 2024. A resident individual or HUF who bought before that date can instead choose 20 percent with indexation, whichever is lower. Exemptions under sections 54 and 54EC are available if you reinvest within the time limits. If you cannot buy the new house before the return due date, the money must be parked in the Capital Gains Account Scheme.
For builders and landowners
Joint development agreements are common on the western side of the city. The landowner's share of flats, the timing of GST on development rights, and the year of capital gains tax all need careful handling. We read the agreement before the first invoice is raised, because correcting it later is expensive.
A buyer who forgets the property TDS form (Form 141, earlier Form 26QB) receives a default notice with interest and late fee. It is one of the most frequent notices we see from first-time home buyers in Hyderabad.
Professional tax in Telangana: monthly deduction, paid by the 10th
Telangana levies professional tax under its 1987 Act, collected by the Commercial Taxes Department, and employers deposit salary deductions by the 10th of the following month.
Unlike states where the local corporation collects it, in Telangana professional tax is handled by the Commercial Taxes Department through the TGCT portal at tgct.gov.in. Employers register, deduct from salaries every month, and pay before the 10th of the next month.
| Monthly salary | Professional tax per month |
|---|---|
| Up to Rs 15,000 | Nil |
| Rs 15,001 to Rs 20,000 | Rs 150 |
| Above Rs 20,000 | Rs 200 |
The annual ceiling of Rs 2,500 per person comes from the Constitution, and the Telangana slabs stay within it.
Two registrations, not one
An employer usually holds a registration for deducting tax from staff, and the business or professional itself holds an enrolment for its own tax. People confuse the two. A new startup in Kondapur may register as an employer and forget its own enrolment, or the other way round. We check both in the first week.
Late payment
Delayed deposits attract interest and can attract penalty. Because the amount per employee is small, owners often ignore it for months, and the total with interest becomes awkward when an inspector visits or a bank asks for a clearance before a loan.
For employees, professional tax deducted reduces taxable salary only under the old regime. Under the new regime it does not, so your Form 16 may show it as deducted from pay but not claimed as a deduction. That is correct, not an error.
We fold the professional tax calculation into payroll TDS work, which our TDS return filing service also covers through the quarterly salary and non-salary statements (Forms 24Q and 26Q, which are Form 138 and Form 140 for quarters from April 2026).
Does a small trader really need a CA firm in Hyderabad?
Not always for the monthly returns, but almost always for the annual return, the income tax computation and any notice. That is where most small traders lose money.
A kirana store owner with simple local purchases can file GSTR-3B with some help from the accountant at the wholesaler. We tell people this honestly. The trouble starts in places they do not expect.
Where a small business gets caught
- Bank deposits higher than declared turnover. The income tax department compares cash and UPI receipts in the AIS with what you show in your ITR. A difference triggers a question.
- Credit claimed on blocked items. GST on a car, food for staff or personal expenses cannot be taken as credit. Small dealers claim it out of habit.
- Composition scheme misunderstood. A composition dealer cannot collect GST from customers or claim credit, and must file CMP-08 every quarter and GSTR-4 annually.
- Presumptive income chosen without checking. Section 44AD is useful, but once you opt out, you cannot come back for five years.
| Business size | What you can manage alone | Where a CA earns the fee |
|---|---|---|
| Turnover below Rs 20 lakh, no GST | Simple ITR-4 if eligible | Checking AIS before filing |
| Composition dealer | CMP-08 every quarter | GSTR-4 and eligibility review |
| Regular GST, Rs 1 to 5 crore | Sales entry | GSTR-2B matching, GSTR-9, tax audit |
| Above Rs 5 crore | Very little | E-invoicing, GSTR-9C, audit, notices |
A CA firm in Hyderabad is worth it for a small trader mainly in March to October: closing the books, filing the annual return and the ITR, and answering whatever the portals throw up. Many of our small clients use us only for that window.
When your shop grows into a company, the picture changes, and our CA firm services cover the full year.
Mistakes Hyderabad businesses bring to us after the damage is done
The costliest problems we see locally are rarely complicated. They are ordinary oversights that sat unnoticed for a year or two.
Here are the five that come up most, with what to do about each.
Taking registration late in Telangana
Traders used to the Rs 40 lakh limit from other states set up shop here and wait. The lower Telangana limit means tax was due much earlier. The fix is to register now and pay the past tax with interest, before a survey or a buyer's complaint brings it out.
Filing GSTR-3B from the sales register only
Some accountants file GSTR-3B from sales figures and claim credit from the purchase register without opening GSTR-2B. The excess claim sits quietly until the annual return or a DRC-01C intimation shows it. Monthly matching costs far less than the interest later.
Ignoring the e-invoice switch
A growing pharma distributor crosses Rs 5 crore and keeps issuing ordinary invoices. Buyers then cannot claim credit, and the invoices are not treated as valid. We check aggregate turnover for every past year since 2017-18, because crossing once is enough.
Company with no annual filings
A startup in the Financial District raised a seed round, then forgot AOC-4 and MGT-7 for two years. Additional fees run for each day of delay. If three years pass, directors face disqualification. We file the backlog with a clear computation of fees.
No TDS on payments to contractors
Builders and fit-out firms often pay contractors without deducting TDS under section 194C. The expense can then be partly disallowed in the income tax assessment, and interest and late fees follow. We set up a monthly TDS check before the 7th of every month.
If a notice has already arrived, note the reply date on the first page. Missing it usually leads to an order passed on the officer's own figures.
Before you call: a short checklist to keep handy
Have your GSTIN, PAN, recent returns and any notice handy. With these four things, a first call can end with a clear plan instead of more questions.
We prefer to look at documents before the call so the conversation is about your situation, not about what to send. Use this list as a guide. Skip what does not apply.
| Who you are | Keep ready | Why we ask |
|---|---|---|
| Trader or distributor | GSTIN, last 6 months GSTR-3B and GSTR-2B, bank statement | To measure credit at risk and filing gaps |
| Manufacturer or pharma unit | Stock statement, job work challans, export invoices, LUT copy | To check refunds and job work compliance |
| Private limited company | CIN, last audited accounts, list of directors and shareholders | To see which MCA forms are pending |
| Salaried employee | Form 16, AIS, RSU or ESOP statements | To pick the right ITR and regime |
| Property seller or buyer | Sale deed or agreement, purchase deed, Form 26QB or Form 141 if filed | To compute gain and check TDS |
A few practical tips
- Download AIS and Form 26AS yourself from the e-filing portal. It takes five minutes and saves a day of back and forth.
- Send notices as PDF from the portal, not as a photo of the screen. The PDF carries the reference number and date.
- If you use Tally or Zoho, a backup file or an export of the trial balance is more useful than printed ledgers.
- Tell us about anything unusual this year: a property sale, a foreign trip for work, a new partner, a large loan.
Send everything on WhatsApp or email, then book a call. We usually reply with a short list of observations before we speak.
How a CA firm in Hyderabad works with you online, month by month
Most compliance runs on a fixed monthly and yearly calendar. Once it is set up for your entity, you only need to send data on time.
The calendar below shows the usual due dates that drive most of our work with businesses in the city. The government sometimes extends these, so we confirm each one before the month starts.
| When | What is due | Who it applies to |
|---|---|---|
| 7th of each month | TDS deposit for the previous month (March TDS by 30 April) | Anyone deducting TDS |
| 10th of each month | Telangana professional tax deducted from salaries | Employers |
| 11th of each month | GSTR-1 for monthly filers | Regular GST taxpayers |
| 20th of each month | GSTR-3B for monthly filers | Regular GST taxpayers |
| 22nd after each quarter | GSTR-3B for quarterly filers in Telangana | Taxpayers under QRMP |
| 31 July, 31 October, 31 January, 31 May | Quarterly TDS returns (Form 138 and 140 from 2026-27, earlier 24Q and 26Q) | Deductors |
| 31 July and 31 August | Usual ITR due dates without audit: ITR-1 and ITR-2 by 31 July, business ITR-3 and ITR-4 by 31 August | Individuals and small businesses |
| 30 September and 31 October (21 October and 21 November 2026 for FY 2025-26) | Tax audit report, then ITR for audited cases | Businesses above the audit limit |
| 31 December | GSTR-9 annual return | Regular GST taxpayers above the exemption |
Each month, a few days before the first due date, we send a WhatsApp message listing what we need. You reply with the data. We reconcile, share the draft figures, and file after you confirm. The acknowledgement follows within minutes.
Companies also have the ROC calendar to follow. The Registrar of Companies, Hyderabad has jurisdiction over the whole of Telangana, and its forms, AOC-4, MGT-7, ADT-1 and DPT-3, are added to the same calendar so that nothing sits in a separate reminder system.
This routine is the real value of a CA firm in Hyderabad. One clean month is easy. Twelve clean months, every year, keep you out of notices.

Signs it is time to bring in a CA
These are the points at which local clients most often reach out to us.
Turnover is approaching Rs 20 lakh
In Telangana that is the goods threshold too. Registering on time avoids back tax, interest and penalty, and lets you deal with buyers who insist on a GSTIN.
You sell or buy a property
TDS by the buyer, capital gains for the seller and exemption planning all have tight time limits. A CA should see the deal before the sale deed is registered.
Your first RSUs vest
From that year, your return needs foreign asset reporting and usually ITR-2. Getting it right the first year makes every later year simple.
A refund claim gets stuck
A deficiency memo or a long silence on an export or inverted duty refund usually means a missing statement or mismatch. It can be fixed and refiled.
You open a company or bring in investors
Incorporation, share allotments and the first annual filings create many forms with fixed dates. Early guidance prevents fees later.
What you gain from a CA handling compliance
The benefit is not just filing on time. It is knowing your numbers hold up when someone checks them.
Documents we usually need from you
Only the items relevant to your case are needed. We tell you exactly which ones after the first call.
Don't have everything? Send what you have on WhatsApp — our expert will tell you what's missing.
Send documents on WhatsApp- PAN and Aadhaar of the owner, partners or directors
- GST registration certificate and GST portal credentials
- Incorporation certificate with MOA and AOA, or LLP agreement or partnership deed
- Bank statements for every business account for the year or period
- Sales and purchase registers, or export from Tally or Zoho
- Export invoices, shipping bills, LUT copy and refund applications if you export
- Job work or loan licence challans and stock statements for manufacturing units
- Form 16, AIS, Form 26AS and RSU or ESOP statements for salaried individuals
- Sale deed, purchase deed and Form 26QB or Form 141 for property transactions
- Professional tax registration and payment challans from the TGCT portal
- Copies of any GST, income tax or MCA notices received
Phone photos or PDFs are fine. Share them on WhatsApp or email and we will file them in your folder and point out anything missing.
From first call to regular filing

- 2
We study your file
You share returns, statements or the notice. We review them and send a written note on the position, the work needed and the fee.
- 3
You approve and share access
Once you agree, you share portal access and data online. We prepare your compliance calendar and confirm the first deadlines.
- 4
Draft, check, file
We prepare the return or reply and share the draft for your quick review. After your go-ahead, it is filed and the acknowledgement reaches you.
- 5
Ongoing support
We repeat the cycle each month and quarter, send reminders early, and raise anything unusual before the due date, not after it.

Doing it with us versus doing it yourself
Self-filing works for simple cases. Here is how the two approaches compare once things get busier.
| TaxCaller | Others | |
|---|---|---|
| Registration timing in Telangana | Threshold tracked on PAN basis across all your businesses | Often based on one business and the higher limit of other states |
| Input credit claims | Matched with GSTR-2B every month | Claimed from the purchase register, mismatches found later |
| Property transactions | TDS, capital gains and exemptions planned before registration | Property TDS or reinvestment deadlines sometimes missed |
| Foreign assets in ITR | Schedule FA and Form 67 prepared from statements | Easy to leave out when filing ITR-1 from Form 16 |
| Refund claims | Statements and annexures built to match the portal data | Deficiency memos and repeated refiling |
| ROC compliance | Annual calendar kept from incorporation onwards | Depends on someone remembering every year |
Common questions from Hyderabad
Direct answers to what clients here ask us most about tax and compliance in Telangana.
How much does a CA firm in Hyderabad charge for GST and income tax work?
It depends on your transaction volume, the number of returns, and whether audit or notices are involved. A small trader on quarterly GST costs far less than a manufacturer with exports and job work. After a free call and a look at your returns, we give you the exact fee in writing before starting.
Is the GST registration limit lower in Telangana than in other states?
Yes, for goods. Telangana did not adopt the higher Rs 40 lakh threshold, so traders in the state must register once aggregate turnover crosses Rs 20 lakh. For services, the Rs 20 lakh limit is the same as most states. Anyone selling goods to buyers in other states must register from the very first sale.
What is the GST state code for Telangana?
The GST state code for Telangana is 36, so every GSTIN issued to a local business begins with 36. When you supply to a buyer with a GSTIN starting with any other code, it is usually an inter-state supply and IGST applies. Checking this on each invoice avoids paying the wrong tax.
How is professional tax paid in Hyderabad?
Employers in Telangana deduct professional tax monthly from salaries and pay it to the Telangana Commercial Taxes Department through the TGCT portal by the 10th of the next month. Salaries up to Rs 15,000 attract nil, Rs 15,001 to Rs 20,000 attract Rs 150, and higher salaries attract Rs 200 a month.
Do I need to visit your office to work with a CA in Hyderabad?
No visit is needed at all. Clients here share documents on WhatsApp, email or upload, discuss their case on call, and we file everything on the government portals. Acknowledgements are sent to you as soon as filing is done. Our office is in Ghaziabad, and the entire service runs online for every city.
Can a CA firm in Hyderabad file my return with foreign RSUs?
Yes. We prepare ITR-2 with Schedule FA for employees holding shares of a foreign parent company. Using your vesting and sale statements, we separate the salary perquisite from capital gains, report holdings for the calendar year, and file Form 67 if tax was withheld abroad, so you can claim foreign tax credit.
Which ROC handles companies registered in Hyderabad?
The Registrar of Companies, Hyderabad has jurisdiction over the whole of Telangana. Every company or LLP with a registered office anywhere in Telangana files its annual and event-based forms under this ROC. All filing happens online on the MCA portal, so you never need to go to the ROC office in person.
Do I have to deduct TDS when buying a flat in Telangana?
Yes, if the price is Rs 50 lakh or more and the seller is resident. You deduct 1 percent (section 194-IA, now section 393 of the new Act) and pay it through Form 141, which replaced Form 26QB in April 2026, then give the seller the TDS certificate. NRI sellers attract different rules, and you need a TAN.
How is capital gain taxed when I sell a flat in Hyderabad?
If held for more than two years, the gain is long term and taxed at 12.5 percent without indexation. Resident individuals who bought before 23 July 2024 can choose 20 percent with indexation if that gives lower tax. Reinvesting in a house or specified bonds within time limits can reduce or remove the tax.
Can you help a Patancheru pharma unit with a stuck GST refund?
Yes. We review why the refund is held, whether it is a deficiency memo, a mismatch in shipping bill data or an incomplete statement. Then we rebuild the claim with correct annexures and refile in RFD-01 within the time limit. Inverted duty claims need careful working because input services are excluded.
When are GST returns due for a Hyderabad business filing quarterly?
Quarterly filers under QRMP in Telangana file GSTR-3B by the 22nd of the month after each quarter, and GSTR-1 by the 13th. Tax for the first two months of a quarter is paid by the 25th of the next month using PMT-06. Monthly filers use the 11th and 20th instead.
What happens if my startup has not filed ROC returns?
Additional fees accrue for every day of delay on AOC-4 and MGT-7, and they grow quickly. If filings stay pending for three continuous years, directors can be disqualified and the company may be struck off. We compute the fees, prepare the backlog, and file everything in the correct order to regularise the company.
Should an IT employee in Gachibowli pick the old or new tax regime?
Most people with modest deductions save more under the new regime, which gives full rebate up to Rs 12 lakh of taxable income from FY 2025-26 plus a Rs 75,000 standard deduction. If you pay high home loan interest and claim HRA, the old regime can still win. We calculate both before filing.
