A Jaipur-focused CA practice that runs online

Gem traders, block print exporters, hoteliers and salaried families in Jaipur each face different tax rules. We handle GST, income tax, ROC and export work for them without an office visit.

In short: TaxCaller works as a CA firm in Jaipur for gem traders, handicraft exporters, hotels and salaried families, handling GST, income tax, company law and export paperwork online. Your GSTIN starts with 08, your company files with the Registrar of Companies for Rajasthan, and nobody has to come to an office.

Looking for a CA firm in Jaipur that understands why a stone dealer in Johari Bazaar and a block printer in Sanganer need very different books? That difference is where most of our work here starts. A coloured stone cutter sends rough out to karigars on job work. A blue pottery unit sells to a buyer in Germany one month and to a Delhi showroom the next. A heritage hotel near the walled city has room tariffs that sit on both sides of the GST slab line. Same city, three separate rulebooks.

TaxCaller India LLP has been doing this work since 2018 with a network of qualified Chartered Accountants and tax experts. For clients in the city the whole job runs online. You share bills, bank statements and notices on WhatsApp or email, we talk it through on a call, and the returns go out on the GST, income tax and MCA portals. You do not lose half a day in traffic on Tonk Road to hand over a file.

Who usually calls us

  • Gem and jewellery traders who export loose stones or finished pieces and want their LUT, shipping bills and GST refunds in order.
  • Handicraft, textile and block print exporters around Sanganer, Bagru and Sitapura.
  • Hotels, guest houses and travel desks that live on tourist season.
  • IT staff, doctors and government employees who want a correct ITR with the right regime.
  • Founders registering a private limited company or LLP in Rajasthan.

Our approach is plain. Before any work starts, we tell you the fee. The first call is free, and in that call we tell you what is actually needed and what is not. Many local traders come to us after paying for services they never required, such as monthly GST filing when quarterly QRMP would have worked fine.

If you want the broader picture of what a chartered accountant handles for a business, our main CA firm services page lists every engagement. This page stays local: Rajasthan rules, the city's trades and the mistakes we keep correcting for people in this city.

Why does a CA firm in Jaipur need to know the gem trade?

Because stones move through many hands before they become an export invoice, and every movement has a GST and income tax trail that must match.

Jaipur is one of the world's major centres for cutting coloured gemstones. Emerald and tanzanite cutting have deep roots here, and a large part of the work is done by artisan cutters on contract. For a CA, that means three things to watch.

1. Rough sent out on job work

When you send rough stones to a karigar for cutting and polishing, the goods leave your premises without a sale. Under GST you issue a delivery challan and the goods must come back within the time limit allowed for inputs sent on job work. The job worker bills you for labour only. We see traders who send stones out on a simple slip of paper. Then a departmental audit asks where the stock went, and nobody can prove it was never sold.

2. Different rates in Chapter 71

Rough stones, cut stones, diamonds and finished jewellery do not share one GST rate. Chapter 71 carries special low rates, and job work on these goods has its own rate too. A wrong HSN code on a purchase bill can quietly block input credit. Every new item code you add to your billing software gets checked against the current rate notification.

3. Exports, consignment and returns

Many dealers ship parcels to buyers abroad, and part of the parcel comes back unsold. If the export was made under LUT, the returned goods and the shipping bill must be reconciled so your books do not show an export that never turned into sale proceeds.

Situation in the gem tradeDocument that protects youCommon gap we find
Rough given to cutterDelivery challan, job work registerNo challan, stock difference in audit
Export without paying IGSTLUT in Form GST RFD-11 for the yearLUT not renewed after 31 March
Unsold parcel returnedRe-import papers matched to the shipping billSale left open in books
Cash purchase from small dealerProper bill, payment by bankCash above the income tax limit

For the GST side of all this, our GST return filing team does the monthly matching against GSTR-2B so credit is claimed only where the supplier has actually filed.

Rajasthan compliance facts every Jaipur business should know

A short reference: these are the state level facts that decide which office, code and portal applies to you.

Most rules in tax are central, but a handful of details change by state. These are the ones that matter here, checked against official and professional sources.

ItemWhat applies in Rajasthan
GST state code08 (every Rajasthan GSTIN begins with 08)
State GST administrationCommercial Taxes Department, Rajasthan (rajtax.gov.in)
Where GST is filedThe common GST portal, gst.gov.in
Professional taxNot levied in Rajasthan
Registrar of CompaniesROC Jaipur, which covers the whole State of Rajasthan
Quarterly GSTR-3B (QRMP) due day24th of the month after the quarter
GST registration threshold₹40 lakh turnover for goods, ₹20 lakh for services

What the professional tax point means for payroll

Since Rajasthan does not levy professional tax, an employer in the city has no PT registration or monthly PT return. Salary slips from a local office should not show a PT deduction. We sometimes see one anyway, usually because the payroll template was copied from a branch in another state. If it is being deducted and not deposited anywhere, that is a problem you want fixed before an employee asks about it.

ROC Jaipur after the 2026 restructuring

MCA reorganised several ROC offices in early 2026, splitting the offices for Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Kanpur. Rajasthan was not part of that change, so incorporation, annual filings and compliance notices for a company registered in the state still sit with the same ROC.

Quarterly filers

Rajasthan is in the group of states whose small taxpayers under QRMP pay and file GSTR-3B by the 24th, not the 22nd. Monthly filers stay on the 20th. Getting this wrong by two days does not sound serious until the late fee and interest show up on the next return.

Handicrafts, block print and blue pottery: getting GST right on craft goods

Craft businesses in and around the city sell a mix of products at different GST rates, and the September 2025 rate change moved several of them to a lower slab.

Sanganeri hand block printing carries a GI tag, Bagru prints come from a village in Jaipur district, and blue pottery is sold in almost every craft shop in the old city. Most of these businesses are family run. The books are often a diary, a bank passbook and a WhatsApp chat with the buyer. That works until the turnover crosses the registration limit or an export order arrives.

The 2025 rate change

From 22 September 2025, GST rates were rationalised. Many handicraft items moved down, for example statues of wood, stone and metal went from 12% to 5%. If your billing software still has the old rate saved against an item, you are either overcharging the buyer or reporting the wrong tax. We ask every craft client for a list of items and HSN codes once, fix the master, and the problem stops repeating every month.

Job work in printing and dyeing

A trader who gives fabric to a printer in Sanganer and then to a dyer is using job workers. Textile job work has its own rate. Challans must travel with the fabric, and the printer's labour invoice must show the right SAC code. A typical mistake is treating the printer's bill as a purchase of goods, which mixes up both the rate and the input credit.

Selling through marketplaces

Craft sellers who list on online marketplaces face TCS deducted by the platform. That TCS shows in your GST credit ledger only if your sales in GSTR-1 match what the platform reported. We reconcile the two every quarter.

If your unit is small and new, start with Udyam (MSME) registration. It is free on the government portal and helps with bank loans and delayed payment protection when a buyer sits on your bill.

The question we hear most from artisans is whether GST registration is worth it below the limit. For a seller who only sells within Rajasthan to walk-in buyers, often not. Interstate and marketplace sales follow separate rules, and handicraft goods have a special notified relief for small artisans, so we look at your actual sales channels before advising.

Exporting from Jaipur: LUT, refunds and the paperwork buyers expect

Exporters should file an LUT every financial year, ship without IGST, and claim a refund of the input tax that piles up; most delays come from small mismatches.

The city exports a lot more than tourists notice: gems, jewellery, textiles, rugs, furniture and printed fabric. Most of these exporters are small. They deal with a freight forwarder, a bank and a buyer abroad, and the GST side often gets left to the end.

The basic export setup

  1. Import Export Code (IEC) from DGFT.
  2. GST registration with the right business address in Rajasthan.
  3. Letter of Undertaking (LUT) in Form GST RFD-11, filed before the first export of each financial year.
  4. Bank account linked to the IEC and GSTIN for export proceeds.

Under LUT you export without paying IGST. Because you still pay GST on purchases, input credit builds up. That credit can be refunded through Form GST RFD-01 on the portal.

Why refunds get stuck

  • Shipping bill and GSTR-1 export invoice details do not match (invoice number, date or value).
  • The LUT expired on 31 March and exports in April went out without a fresh one.
  • Input credit includes items that are blocked, like some motor vehicle expenses.
  • Bank realisation for older exports is missing from the records.

Example: a jewellery exporter files GSTR-1 with the invoice value in rupees rounded off, while the shipping bill carries the exact figure. The refund officer flags the difference. Fixing it means amending the GSTR-1 entry, which takes a filing cycle. A ten minute check before filing would have avoided a month's delay.

Units in the SEZ

Jaipur has a gems and jewellery SEZ in the Sitapura Industrial Area, and Mahindra World City on Ajmer Road was planned as a multi-product SEZ. Supplies to SEZ units are zero-rated, so a local vendor supplying a unit inside the SEZ should treat those invoices like exports and keep the SEZ unit's endorsement on record. For ongoing export GST advice, our GST consultant service covers refund filing and replies to deficiency memos.

Hotels, guest houses and travel desks in the Pink City

A hotel's GST here depends on the tariff actually charged per room night, so the same property can bill two different rates in one week.

The Walled City of Jaipur became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019. Jantar Mantar was inscribed in 2010, and Amber Fort is part of the Hill Forts of Rajasthan listing from 2013. Tourists keep heritage hotels, havelis, homestays, cab operators and guides busy for most of the year. The accounting challenge is that rates change by season, and the GST slab follows the rate.

Room tariff actually charged per nightGST from 22 September 2025Input credit
Up to ₹1,000NilNot applicable
₹1,001 to ₹7,5005%Not available
Above ₹7,50018%Available

The slab is decided by the price the guest pays, after any discount. A room listed at ₹9,000 and sold at ₹7,000 in July goes in the 5% bracket for that night. Property managers often bill the listed rate's slab out of habit.

What we watch for in hotel books

  • Since 5% rooms carry no input credit, purchase GST on those rooms must not be claimed. Mixed properties need a proper split of common credit.
  • Commission paid to online travel portals, and the TCS they collect, must be reconciled with your own sales.
  • Restaurant inside the hotel: its rate depends on rules linked to room tariffs, so check it each time tariffs change.
  • Cash collected at the front desk for extra services should be billed, not entered later in a lump.

Hotels with staff also have TDS on contractor payments, rent and professional fees. The quarterly 26Q (Form 140 from tax year 2026-27) is where small properties fall behind. Our TDS return filing team can take that over so you do not get a stack of late fee notices for missed quarters.

Mistakes we fix most often for Jaipur businesses

Most notices we handle for local clients come from a short list of avoidable errors, and almost all of them start as a small habit in daily bookkeeping.

After years of handling Rajasthan files, the same problems come back. None of them is exotic. Each one is cheap to prevent and expensive to fix late.

MistakeWhat happens laterHow we prevent it
Claiming input credit before the supplier filesMismatch with GSTR-2B, notice for excess ITCMonthly GSTR-2B matching before 3B
Large cash sales in the seasonQuestions under income tax cash rulesBank or UPI collection, proper invoicing
Old GST rate left in software after September 2025Wrong tax charged, credit disputesOne time HSN and rate master check
Personal and business money in one accountHard to defend turnover in scrutinySeparate current account, monthly review
Director's mobile or email changed without DIR-3 KYC updateDIN deactivated, filing blockedKYC tracked on the new three year cycle and on every contact change

The cash problem in the gem bazaar

Income tax has strict limits on cash. Receiving ₹2 lakh or more in cash from one person in a day, or for one transaction, attracts a penalty equal to the amount received. Many old bazaar habits break this without anyone meaning to. When we take over books in Johari Bazaar, the first review is a cash test.

Unreported foreign remittances

Exporters and freelancers receive money from abroad. When that money is not tied to an invoice in the books, the bank's report reaches the department through the Annual Information Statement (AIS), and the gap shows up later as a query.

Late fixing of books before audit

A business that crosses the tax audit limit often realises it only in September. Then stock, debtors and cash all need reworking at once. We prefer a quarterly look at turnover so the audit decision is made in time. Regular accounting and bookkeeping is the simplest cure for most items in the table above.

Salaried and professional taxpayers in Jaipur: ITR without surprises

For a salaried person in the city, the right ITR form, the right regime and a quick check of AIS are what separate a clean refund from a notice.

The city has a large salaried population: state government staff, bank employees, doctors in private hospitals, teachers and a growing IT workforce around Mahindra World City and Malviya Nagar. Their returns look simple, but small errors are common.

Which form?

  • ITR-1: resident with salary, one house property and income up to ₹50 lakh, with no capital gains beyond the limited cases allowed in the form.
  • ITR-2: salary plus capital gains on shares or mutual funds, foreign assets, or more than one house.
  • ITR-3: anyone with business or professional income, including a doctor's private practice beyond presumptive income.
  • ITR-4: presumptive income under 44AD or 44ADA for eligible residents.

The regime question

The new tax regime is the default. For income of FY 2025-26, a resident with taxable income up to ₹12 lakh pays no tax under it because of the rebate, and salaried people get a standard deduction of ₹75,000 on top. The old regime still suits some families with a home loan, large 80C investments and HRA. We compute both before choosing.

Usual due dates

For FY 2025-26 income, ITR-1 and ITR-2 have a usual due date of 31 July 2026. The Finance Act 2026 moved non-audit ITR-3 and ITR-4 cases to 31 August. Audit cases usually file by 31 October, and for FY 2025-26 the CBDT extended this to 21 November 2026. The government sometimes extends these, but plan as if it will not.

An AIS gap that turns into a notice

Example: a government employee sells an old plot in Jagatpura and reports only salary. Months later the sale appears in AIS from the registry data, and a notice follows. The capital gain had to go in ITR-2 with the cost and improvement records. Our income tax filing team reads AIS and Form 26AS before drafting, so this kind of gap is caught early.

What to keep ready before your first call with us

Ten minutes of collecting papers before the call saves a week of back and forth on WhatsApp.

You do not need to arrange everything. But if you send the following first, our first call becomes a working session instead of a list of questions.

For a trader or exporter

  • GSTIN and login, or the registration certificate if you only have that.
  • Last three GSTR-3B and GSTR-1 filings, or a note that nothing was filed.
  • IEC and the current year's LUT acknowledgement, if you export.
  • Bank statements of all business accounts for the period in question.
  • Stock list, even a rough one, with job work challans if goods are with karigars.

For a salaried person

  • Form 16 from every employer in the year.
  • AIS and Form 26AS downloaded from the income tax portal (we can guide you).
  • Capital gains statement from your broker or mutual fund registrar.
  • Home loan interest certificate and rent receipts if you might use the old regime.

For a new company

  • PAN and Aadhaar of all proposed directors, with a photo.
  • Registered office proof: electricity bill plus rent agreement or owner's NOC.
  • Two or three name options and a line on what the business will do.

If you got a notice, send a clear photo or PDF of every page, including the last page with the reply date. Half the panic on calls comes from a missing second page.

All of this can come on WhatsApp. We confirm what has been received, point out anything missing and give you the fee before work begins.

Choosing a CA firm in Jaipur: what an honest engagement looks like

Ask for a written list of filings, an upfront fee and a named person who answers your calls; everything else follows from those three.

Picking an accountant is a trust decision. Whoever you choose will hold your GST login, your bank data and your family's tax history. A few questions sort out most of it.

Questions worth asking any firm

  1. Which returns will you file for me this year, and on what dates?
  2. What is the fee, and what does it not cover?
  3. Who reconciles my input credit before GSTR-3B goes out?
  4. How will I get acknowledgements and challans after every filing?
  5. Who handles a notice if one comes?

Starting a company here

Founders here often ask whether an LLP or a private limited company is better. An LLP is lighter on compliance and suits professional partnerships. A private limited company suits anyone raising investment or planning to give shares to employees. After incorporation through SPICe+, the company has to file INC-20A for commencement of business within 180 days, appoint its first auditor within 30 days, and then file AOC-4 and MGT-7 every year with ROC Jaipur. Our company registration service sets this calendar on day one.

How TaxCaller works with you

Everything happens online. You share documents on WhatsApp, email or upload, we discuss on call, and filings are made on the government portals. You get the filed return and the acknowledgement on WhatsApp. No visit is needed at any stage.

If after the free first call you decide to handle something yourself, that is fine. We would rather you file one correct return on your own than pay for a service you do not need.

When should you bring in a chartered accountant?

Some moments make professional help worth it. These are the ones we see most often in the city.

Your turnover is nearing ₹40 lakh

Goods traders in Rajasthan must register once turnover crosses ₹40 lakh (₹20 lakh for services). Registering a little early avoids a rush and a backdated liability when a big order lands.

An export order has come in

Before the first shipment of the year you need a valid LUT, an IEC and a GST invoice format for exports. Setting this up after the goods leave is harder and can cost you the refund.

You received a notice

GST and income tax notices carry a reply date. Send it to us the day it arrives. A calm reply with documents usually closes the matter; a missed date often leads to an order.

You are starting a company or LLP

Incorporation is the easy part. The first-year filings like INC-20A and the auditor appointment are where new companies slip, so plan them together.

Your books are behind

If you have not reconciled GST or bank entries for months, start now rather than at the audit. Catch-up work done quarterly is far lighter than one big clean-up in September.

What you gain by working with us

Practical advantages for a local business or family, based on how we actually work.

Rajasthan details already known

State code 08, QRMP on the 24th, no professional tax and one ROC for companies across the state. You do not have to explain your own state's rules to us.

Trade-specific checks

We know why stones go out on job work, why hotel tariffs change the GST slab and why craft rates changed in 2025. Questions are about your business, not generic forms.

No visit, no queue

Documents on WhatsApp or email, work on call, filings on the portals. A shop owner in Bapu Bazaar can finish a review between customers.

Fee told before work

You know the cost before we start. If a job turns out larger than expected, we tell you first and ask before going ahead.

Records you can use later

Every filed return, challan and acknowledgement comes to you. When a bank asks for ITRs or a buyer asks for GST proof, you already have them.

Documents usually needed

Not every item applies to everyone. Send what you have and we will tell you what else is needed for your work.

Don't have everything? Send what you have on WhatsApp — our expert will tell you what's missing.

Send documents on WhatsApp
  • PAN and Aadhaar of the proprietor, partners or directors
  • GST registration certificate and portal login, if registered
  • Bank statements of all business accounts for the period
  • Sales and purchase invoices, or the billing software export
  • Job work challans for stones, fabric or goods with karigars
  • IEC, LUT acknowledgement and shipping bills for exporters
  • Form 16, AIS and Form 26AS for salaried returns
  • Capital gains statements and property sale deeds
  • Rent agreement or electricity bill for the business address
  • Any notice received, with all pages

Phone photos and scanned PDFs are both fine, as long as every page is readable. Logins can be shared on call, never in a group chat.

How the work moves from call to filing

A simple sequence that keeps you informed at every step.

  1. 1

    Free first call

You tell us what you need. We ask a few questions about your trade, turnover and pending filings, then tell you exactly what work is required and what is not.

  2. 2

    Fee and document list

We share the fee in writing and a short list of documents. You send them on WhatsApp, email or upload, whichever is easiest for you.

  3. 3

    Review and draft

We reconcile your data, check AIS, GSTR-2B or bank entries as needed, and prepare the return or application. Any open question comes back to you on call.

  4. 4

    Your approval

You see the draft figures before anything is filed. Tax payable, refund or credit carried forward is explained in plain words so you know what you are signing off.

  5. 5

    Filing and records

We file on the government portal and send the acknowledgement, challan and filed copy. Recurring filings go on a calendar so the next due date is not missed.

Questions Jaipur clients ask us

Short, direct answers to the questions we hear on calls from the city.

How much does a CA firm in Jaipur charge for GST return filing?

There is no single rate; the fee depends on invoice volume, monthly or quarterly filing and whether exports or job work are involved. A small QRMP trader costs far less to handle than a jewellery exporter claiming refunds. We tell you the exact fee on the free first call, before any work starts, so nothing comes as a surprise later.

Do I need GST registration to sell blue pottery from my workshop?

Not if you only sell to walk-in buyers within Rajasthan and stay below ₹40 lakh turnover. Interstate sales, marketplace listings and exports bring extra rules, and handicraft goods have a special notified relief for small artisans selling interstate. So the honest answer depends on where and how you sell. We check your sales channels on the free first call.

Is professional tax deducted from salaries in Rajasthan?

No. Rajasthan does not levy professional tax, so a local employer has no PT registration, no PT return and should show no PT deduction on salary slips. If your slip shows one, the payroll template was probably copied from another state. Ask your employer to correct it, and check whether earlier deductions were deposited anywhere.

Which ROC handles company registration for a Jaipur business?

ROC Jaipur handles companies and LLPs registered anywhere in Rajasthan, the capital included. The 2026 restructuring of ROC offices split offices in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Kanpur, but Rajasthan was not affected. Your SPICe+ incorporation, annual AOC-4 and MGT-7 filings, and any ROC notices will all be handled through the same ROC on the MCA portal.

Can a gem exporter in Jaipur ship without paying IGST?

Yes, by filing a Letter of Undertaking in Form GST RFD-11 before the first export of each financial year. The goods then go out without IGST, and input tax paid on purchases can be claimed as a refund. Remember that the LUT expires on 31 March, so April shipments need a fresh one filed in time.

What GST rate applies to a heritage hotel room priced at ₹6,000?

From 22 September 2025, a room night actually charged between ₹1,001 and ₹7,500 attracts 5% GST without input tax credit. So a ₹6,000 room is taxed at 5%. The slab follows the price the guest really pays after discount, not the listed tariff, so a discounted premium room can fall in the lower slab.

Do I have to visit an office to work with TaxCaller?

No visit is needed at any stage. You send documents on WhatsApp, email or upload, we discuss your case on call or WhatsApp, and every filing is made online on the government portals. Acknowledgements and filed copies come back to you on WhatsApp, so a client here gets the full service from home or shop.

What is the usual due date for GSTR-3B for quarterly filers in Rajasthan?

Quarterly filers under QRMP in Rajasthan file GSTR-3B by the 24th of the month after the quarter. Rajasthan is grouped with states like Uttar Pradesh and Punjab on the 24th, while states such as Gujarat and Maharashtra use the 22nd. Monthly filers everywhere stay on the 20th of the following month.

Can a CA firm in Jaipur fix my karigar job work records before an audit?

Yes, in most cases. We rebuild the job work register from your challans, karigar labour bills and stock records, then match it with your GST returns. Where challans are missing, we use whatever proof exists, such as payment entries and messages. Starting early matters, because rebuilding a whole year during an audit is slow and stressful.

Which ITR form should a salaried person with mutual fund gains use?

Use ITR-2 if you have salary along with capital gains from mutual funds or shares that ITR-1 cannot take. ITR-2 has separate schedules for short and long term gains. Download the capital gains statement from your registrar or broker and match it with AIS before filing, because the department already sees those redemptions.

How long does private limited company registration take in Jaipur?

Usually about 7 to 15 working days once all documents are ready, depending on name approval and MCA processing time at the ROC. Digital signatures come first, then the SPICe+ form with name, PAN and TAN. Delays mostly come from a rejected name or an unclear address proof, so send a clean electricity bill.

Does a handicraft exporter in Sanganer need an IEC as well as GST?

Yes. An Import Export Code from DGFT is needed to export goods, and GST registration is needed for the export invoice and the refund of input tax. The IEC is linked to your PAN. Once both are in place, file the LUT before your first shipment so you can export without paying IGST.
